CREATOR’S CORNER: TRIBAL MASKS Class V learnt to make tribal masks from Africa, Sri Lanka and India as part of International School Award Activity. The idea was to create awareness about the tribal cultures of these regions and know about the significance and usage of these masks in their religious and social lives. The children made masks from the Punu, Dogon, Yoruba, Woya tribes of Africa, Tovil and Kolam masks from Sri Lanka and Kathakali masks from India. These masks were then displayed during SRIJAN 2009 – the annual creative festival which is open to parents and visitors.
