Worldwide there has been a strong push to get educational technology into the hands of teachers and students .The answer for the same was smart class program. The purpose of the smart class program is to empower teachers with technology right inside their classrooms. The program enables teachers to use digital resources such as graphics, animations, 3D images, and video clips in addition to the chalk and talk methods of teaching in their day to day teaching life. This results in a completely new multi sensory learning experience for students and helps them to improve their academic performance.The class rooms turn into lively learning platforms for students and teachers can choose from a mix of teaching tools such as the traditional chalk and black board coupled with graphics , sound, animations and videos.

Educomp's smartclass™ is a technology oriented initiative for schools. It provides tools and content for interactive self-paced learning by students, as well as rich-media presentations for teacher-led classroom learning. Smartclass is available for teachers and students over the web, and can also be installed on the school's local server for faster and more reliable access to the content.The content available consists of pedagogically sound and visually rich curriculum resources mapped and customized as per the school's Scheme of Work. This content can be streamed into the classroom and shown by teachers in the classroom to make abstract concepts real. Teachers may also include their own learning materials for use by their students.

The optional SAS engine available with smartclass supports creation and management of question bank and eTests. With this tool, teachers will be able to create multiple choice questions and deliver them to students.

EDUCOMP SMART CLASS program has been implemented in BBPS rohini in year 2008 for classes I to VIII (33 classrooms)

SMART CLASS IMPLEMENTATION MODEL

1. An existing room/space inside the school campus is converted to a KNOWLEDGE CENTER. It is equipped with a library of digital resources mapped to the school syllabus. The knowledge center is equipped with a few teacher workstations with PC'S for teachers and a dedicated server.

2. A full time RESOURCE COORDINATOR is deployed by Educomp at the knowledge center to train and support the teachers.

3. The knowledge center server is connected to the smart clarssrooms through a campus wide structured Ethernet network.

4. The classrooms are converted to smart class rooms by installing a DIGIBOARD SYSTEM. It is a temper proof , lockable digital system which allows digital material to be displayed whole teaching in the classroom with amplified sound system.
